The Long Brew None Event
Location:
Abbey Fields, Colchester
Start times:
Marathon : First wave 9am
Half Marathon : First wave 10am
This is a Covid compliant event
Imagine that rather than knocking out your desired distance on your own, that you got to enjoy all the benefits of someone else organising your run so that all you had to do was put one foot in front of the other, and have company as you do so.
Imagine no more, cos it’s real.
A few simple rules.
- Social distancing to be observed at all times in the start area.
- Maximum of 6 people per group on the course (you can reserve a number of spots in a group when entering online so you can be with your mates, or you will be assigned to a group after entries close).
- Groups will have staggered starts to avoid congestion around the start area and course.
- The event is cupless, (although we can take your pre-prepared drinks to any of our water stations of your choice to save you lugging them about).
- You will be able to print off route directions prior to the event, this is to avoid handling items and limiting potential contamination, the route is mainly pavement and footpaths and has been designed to be familiar to most, easy to follow and limiting the number of road crossings to keep you moving. There is a section of light trail but even in October road shoes should be adequate and a very short section of unpaved road.
- The routes have been measured, remeasured and are “pretty” accurate, but to ensure everyone gets the distance they require recorded on their device of choice you may need to run a short extra loop at the end at Abbey fields, or, you might show a bit extra. Either way please keep the bad language to a minimum at this point.
As a free to enter run in a public area we cannot disqualify anyone contravening the race rules so we ask all participants to adopt a “Don’t be a dick” policy. This is a fun, community occasion and that includes Joe Public, whose goodwill we rely on to be able to stage future events.
So, 13.1, or 26.2 ,miles, it is up to you. As well as there being a baggage area at the race base, and support stations at regular intervals along the route we encourage supporters to gather (in a socially distanced fashion) at the end and cheer folks home, or maybe appear around the course with a smile and a cheer.
Any additional questions can be sent to info@longbrew.co.uk but a full briefing email will be sent out to you shortly before the event with everything you’ll need to know. This will allow us to observe the regulations in place at the time.
